Solar radiation is strong and lake weather can change quickly. The Taquile walk takes place above 3,800 meters; acclimatize in Puno, move slowly and stay hydrated. The itinerary may be adjusted because of wind, rain, lake level or decisions by maritime and community authorities.
Uros and Taquile are living communities, not staged attractions. Ask permission before photographing people, respect private areas and follow the local host’s guidance. Handicrafts and optional services are paid directly to each community.
Landing points and the order of visits may change because of weather or community coordination.
The traditional totora reed-boat ride is optional and paid locally.
Taquile requires walking on slopes and stairways at high altitude.
Carry cash in Peruvian soles for handicrafts, drinks and personal expenses.
