Altitude can cause headache, nausea, dizziness or shortness of breath. Tell the guide immediately and descend when instructed. Emergency oxygen does not replace medical assessment or insurance. The operator may change, suspend or cancel the hike for safety, weather, roadblocks or trail conditions.
Vinicunca rises above 5,000 meters. Spend at least two days acclimatizing in Cusco and do not make this your first activity after arriving from sea level.
Health: not recommended for travelers with uncontrolled heart or respiratory conditions.
Admission: the local Vinicunca ticket is not included unless expressly stated.
Horses: an independent local service, subject to availability and usually not covering the entire route.
Weather: snow, rain, fog or wind can hide the colors and change the itinerary.
Cusco, Peru
We recommend at least two days in Cusco before the hike, especially when arriving from sea level.
No, unless your confirmation says otherwise. Bring cash for the local community ticket.
Local residents often offer horses, but availability is not guaranteed, payment is separate and they may not reach the final viewpoint.
Tell your guide immediately. Stop ascending and descend when instructed; your safety is more important than reaching the viewpoint.
